Summer has come to an end. The kids are back in school (for many of us) and it’s time to do a little deal hunting. Indeed, with the end of summer, we start to think about ways we can spruce things up a little bit with some merchandise — bought on sale, of course. Here are 5 things you can expect to find great deals on now that summer has come to an end:
Car dealers will be getting in next year’s car models soon. As a result, they need to clear their lots of what’s already there. Even if you aren’t in the market for a new car, you might be able to find some good deals on lease returns. They should be trickling onto lots right about now. Both of my cars are lease returns. We got good deals, the remainder of warranties, and cars that were properly maintained and cared for. Start poking around for a car now.
2. Cooling Appliances
Now that summer is over, you should be able to find good deals on air conditioners, fans and dehumidifiers. If you are ready to pick up a good deal on cooling appliances consider shopping now. Look for markdowns on older models and display models if you want to save even more money on your cooling costs.
3. Landscaping Supplies
We bought our house new-built, so we had to do all the landscaping. We saved big money on plants and other landscaping needs by buying at the end of summer, and the beginning of fall. Now is the time that nurseries are trying to empty out ahead of winter. You can save 50% to 85% off on trees, shrubs and flowers. Buy now, and you’ll be able to get the plants in and established before the first frost. This holds true for landscaping tools. Our lawnmower cost a lot less when we bought it on sale at the end of September. Look for sales on gardening tools as well.
4. Patio Furniture
We’ve been considering buying some sort of sun shade to set up over our patio, and we want to (finally) outfit our patio with chairs and a table. Now is a perfect time to look for deals on these items. Large umbrellas and other sun shades are going on sale, and patio furniture is being marked down quite heavily. There is a very good chance that we will be able to find something we like being sold at a low price. We might finally have our home “finished” with the addition of patio furniture.
5. Camping Gear
I love to camp. It’s one of my favorite summer activities, and the best time to get camping gear is at the end of summer. Last year, I decided to upgrade the tent my son and I use. I suffered through last summer with our old tent, and then bought a new tent at the end of summer for 50% off. You can buy camp chairs, camp stoves, sleeping bags, dutch ovens, backpacks, fishing poles, inflatable rafts, kayaks and other outdoor equipment for less this time of year. We’ve been adding to our camping stores for years now, building up our “camping box” with items bought on sale.
With a little planning, you can get great deals on almost anything when you pay attention to seasonal sales. And now is a great time to buy “summery” things.
