When many of us think of taxes, we usually think of federal taxes. Yet, it’s mighty important to consider that you pay taxes in your state of residence as well.
After all, the state taxes that you pay are added on top of what you pay in federal taxes. State income tax, sales tax, property tax and estate/inheritance taxes can all start to add up.
It’s easy to look up states with the highest tax burdens and those with the lowest tax burdens, so I did just that. Here’s what I found.

You only have to look at the exterior of your local payday loan storefront to see that these lending establishments are set up to cater to the desperate. With bright neon “Cash Now!” lights enticing borrowers, and a quick 20 minutes of paperwork leading to cash in a borrower’s pocket, it’s very easy to see a quick loan as a saving grace when you’re out of money.
However, quick loans like these are extremely dangerous. Often, the high level of interest due on your loan within two weeks leads to a need for another loan, and another, etc. Before you know it, you feel like you owe your soul to the money store.

I’m a huge sports fan, increasingly so as I get older. Maybe I just love the thrill of competition, maybe I enjoy watching humans do unbelievable physical acts, or maybe it just makes me feel younger.
It’s probably a little of all of them, but I love sports. Like most guys, I enjoy sitting in my favorite armchair and watching a great game unfold on my big screen high definition TV, but there’s nothing like seeing a game live.
Some of my best childhood memories are from sporting events. I remember my parents taking me to an afternoon double header at the old Met Stadium watching the Minnesota Twins, and I was one of the lucky ones who got a free souvenir helmet!
With ticket prices skyrocketing, combined with parking and the insane cost of concessions and souvenirs, making similar memories with my son is cost prohibitive.
The good news is, there are ways to enjoy great live sporting events without breaking your budget.
