I finally stopped myself from imaging that the ground is wobbling after a week on the cruise and as promised, here’s the big announcement I told you about.
Emma and I are having a child. Actually, she is already pregnant.
No, it wasn’t a magical night on the cruise but rather a planned event for months. Emma is 15 weeks pregnant and due to some ancient superstitious theory that my mom insisted we follow, we were not allowed to tell anyone until Emma finished the first trimester (the first three months of pregnancy).
I’m excited but nervous, while Emma is happy but tired. We must be the perfect couple.
We are moving onto a new stage of our lives, both emotionally and financially. I am so glad you’re apart of this great community and I will be sharing more with you in the coming weeks, months and years.
Have a great day.

Congratulations! This will be one of the best times of your life!
Are you going to wait and see after the baby is born, or find out the gender and let others know? What about the names? Oh, this is almost as exciting as when my niece and my two friends told us their news! ????
All singletons, incidentally, even though my niece is the daughter of a twin. ????
Wonderful, exciting news! I’ve got some too: my niece and two of my close friends are all having babies—and all three in July!
Congratulations on this wonderful next step in your lives..
Congrats. Now onto the stage of parenthood. Should be fun, challenging.
CONGRATS. Thats amazing.
I’ll tell you what though after something went wrong with our pregnancy I would have been happy to have kept the news quiet for 3 months. Most of the time Moms are right lol
Congrats David.
That is totally awesome.
Congratulations. Awesome news.
Congrads David.,.the dad to be.
I’m sure you will be enjoying your new status as daddy.
David, that’s wonderful news. I wish all three of you the very best.
Sorry for the late congrats but this is wonderful news. Wishing you many happy healthy returns on your investment….
What wonderful news.. Congratulations to you both, and have so much fun getting ready for your new baby.
David, I bet it’s the most happiest moment in your life. Congratulation and make sure to take care Emily properly.
Hey David, congrats buddy. This will be quite a nice adventure for you. Looking forward to hearing about your journey to fatherhood, as well as all things personal finance related to fatherhood.
Congrats again.
Congratulations.
Once my uncle had kids (a few years ago, so yes if I have kids in a few years my cousins will be closer in age to them than me.) and it changed his life – for the better. But it does take up A TON of time. I’m sure you will still find time to write, though, and I look forward to seeing how you incorporate that aspect of your life into personal finance (could have a blog all by itself).
Congrats David. I’m very happy for you.
You’ll have to rent a separate office if you plan to get any work done once the baby arrives. 🙂
How exciting.? I expect more updates from you and more kid related finance articles from now on.
Congratulations.
Congratulations. I have no children myself, but I can only imagine the excitement you must be feeling.
Congratulations.
A child, a book . what’s next?
Congrats- This the year of the MoneyNing ..
Welcome to the wonderful world of parenthood. I’m sure you will be a great father and best of luck. Children changes your life but definitely in a good way.
Congrats. It must be an exciting time for you two.
Congrats, David. My wife and I had our first child almost 3 months ago (hmmm, right about the time you and your wife conceived)…
Anyway, it is an amazing adventure and an amazing amount of work. But it is also one of the most beautiful experiences you can have. I’m sure you will love being a father. 🙂
If you have a washer/dryer, cloth diapers are soooo easy and soooo frugal. Go for it 🙂
I will be sure to need all the advice I could get. I’m glad you are here.
Yay. Congratulations.
Soon the grandparents will have to share “the guest bedroom.” 🙂
At least they even have a bedroom to share. We are moving in two weeks and until then, we’ve always just been in a one bedroom so it’s already an upgrade.
wow… before i read through, i was wondering what you had written that got so many commens for such a small post and now i know why. this is great news and congrats man.. 🙂 happy fathering hope you enjoy this new era
Wow that’s great.. Congratulations. 🙂
The little guy (or gal) couldn’t hope for better parents.
Awesome news. Do you know if it’s a boy or a girl yet?
We may know in a month or so. People say that the doctors can tell more quickly if it’s a boy but not knowing doesn’t mean it’s for sure a girl. Emma thinks it’s a boy though because of all the pimples she’s getting on her back.
congratulations.
I’m happy for you and everyone else is right. The child will change your life.
Woo. Congratulations.
Congratulations David. I was expecting your big news to be about saving money on your car insurance.
HA 🙂
Expect the another big announcement to be about how I scored free diapers or something.
May your blessing multiply 🙂
No wonder the house hunting (nesting instinct there) was in full go mode 🙂
Congrats. How exciting. 🙂
Congrats, that’s amazing news.
I knew it. Congratulations.. It will totally change your life…but in a good way.
Hey David,
Congrats. Your life is going to change big time, but in a good way. Hope you will still have time to write.
I hope I still have time to write too. Maybe I should start a MyKidMadeMeQuitMyJob.com?
Oh great news. I wish the two (three) of you all the best.
Awesome. We are so happy for you. Let the adventures begin.
cd :O)
Excellent news. Congratulation.
Congrats.
I have had two friends not wait the 12 weeks and REALLY REALLY regretted it when terrible misfortune happened. Of course they would commiserate and draw support from their loved ones, but they had let the world know (and with facebook it really did seem like the world knew) and then tell acquaintances for months what happened.
So sorry to hear that. We will be very very careful.
Congrats on the news. Oh man are you in for some exciting and sometimes trying times.
Awesome, congrats. You’ll love it, even though there are plenty of sleepless nights ahead 😀
Congratulations.
The three month thing isn’t superstition–most miscarriages happen during the first trimester, so medical staff recommend that parents-to-be wait until that most dangerous time has passed. How tragic to make an announcement too soon and then have to make a second, sad announcement.
Anyway, here’s to wishing you both a happy, healthy pregnancy and birth.
Thank you for your wishes.
You are so right. Making multiple announcements would be very said, but my parents said that telling people actually increase the chances of miscarriage, so that’s probably where the superstition comes in.
Congrats. That’s great news.
I think it’s pretty common to not mention anything for three months.
Oh my goodness. Congrats. 😀
So happy for you two. 🙂
