Netflix is obviously doing something right with the crazy market share that they are grabbing these days. To be honest, I would not have joined without the free trial that they keep promoting but I’m hooked.

Ever since I became a subscriber, I cut out my cable which was something like $100 a month. To me, the movies were good enough (if not better) and most of the shows I would watch are re-runs, which are available on netflix and/or hulu anyway.

I totally agree with Sam on the savings you get with Netflix. It’s amazing how much I’ve been scammed by cable TV through the years. Mine is like $60 a month, and I have pretty much the most basic of channels. With TV, I can’t even watch shows when I want. I have to remember the times that the show goes on air and then remember to turn to that channel which almost never happens. With these DVDs, I can just watch whatever when I want. Best of all, I can always pause the show or movie when someone calls and/or when I wanted to make some popcorn.

I want to point out that I don’t think cable TV is overpriced, because pricing is just a matter of what people will bear. If demand decreases, prices will come down.

However, I cut my TV and opted for Netflix last month because I can’t afford to pay $100 a month, especially considering that I live alone and I’m always at work trying to keep my job. If it was cheaper, I would love to stay with cable but when something is 10x as much and offer a similar service (for me at least), it just doesn’t make sense.

I’m glad that Netflix is offering a free trial, because when more people leave cable and go to these DVD services, the cable providers will take notice and lower their price to attract customers.

I wish the netflix coupon the company advertised were still active. Even though I’m already a subscriber, I joined when they had a free trial. I must say that I’m pretty impressed for the most part.

The only down side is that sometimes I have to wait for the DVDs to come. The way they have it is that the system will queue your wish list and then as they become available, they will ship them to you. If you are those people that have to have what they want, when they want, a normal DVD rental store is still the way to go. If you are like me who don’t mind waiting and can watch a variety of good movies on the cheap, then Netflix works.

does anyone know when they typically do the free month trials?

I’ve been a Netflix customer since 2003 and their service has improved tremendously over the years. Nowadays, they would email me when they experience technical difficulties and apologize.

At a couple bucks a month, it was well worth it, especially considering that they offer free trials for you to try.

The following may affect Netflix and whether you take advantage of the Netflix coupon for free trial or not.

9/2/09
You Tube may start offering movie rentals, after the success of iTunes and Amazon doing the same thing for months.

It is reported that Google is in talks with hollywood studios to possibly start streaming movies for a fee. The final details would be based on pricing and the “window” (the time lag between the DVD release and its digital version).

The move would take YouTube away from its heavy reliance on its ad supported model, and one step closer to the likes of Netflix. With iTunes and Amazon already doing this for about $1.99 to $3.99 for each movie, the industry is quickly becoming a crowded one, especially since Netflix also has a streaming service via its own box or using a xbox.

If Google is successful with its talks, which by all accounts it will, YouTube will start offering a streaming service and become a huge competitor for Netflix. It will be interesting to see if the DVD rental company will start offering a better Netflix coupon to entice new and existing customers, but we shall see what happens.

I can’t wait to share upcoming Netflix coupons with you all!

The Netflix coupon allows us a two week free trial, but I wish they would extend it a little more. I know two weeks is plenty of time to try it out, but the longer the better right? I hope the company see the value of long term customers, because if the trial was like two or even three months, I don’t think anyone would cancel it once they have a chance to see how much money they can save.

Seriously, the Netflix free trial is only to get people to sign up for their service since they know most people are too lazy to unsubscribe even if they don’t use the service. I enjoy the DVDs being routed to me for a low monthly rate and I was able to cut down about $80 of cable TV fees that I didn’t actually need but I’m sure this isn’t for everyone since there’s no more channel surfing.

I guess what I think is that if you like movies, then get it. Otherwise, maybe try the Netflix free trial. (Arggh, I don’t know what I’m saying already since I’m now suggesting people to just try it)

I’m not surprised by the universally good grades with the Netflix coupon offering two week’s free trial and it’s DVD service. I am a happy customer for a while now and I don’t really see why anyone pays for cable TV anymore. It’s $10 for Netflix versus $100 or something for cable when all we do look for movies to watch anyway.

I went over to a friend’s house the other day and it was hilarious that TV stations are trying to show the movie TWICE in a row. I mean, do I really need to watch it more than once? Unless the TV industry drastically improves, I’m sticking with renting DVDs for the rest of my life.

When someone comes out (ESPN 360?) with a Hulu-for-sports, then i think you’ll see a lot of folks leaving cable/satellite. Currently the only good way of seeing Monday night football or TNT’s Thursday night NBA game is on traditional TV.

Here’s more Netflix news. After the company announced that Netflix added streaming service for the PS3 as well, users either needed to wait for the Sony update or request a streaming DVD from Netflix to use the service. If you ordered the streaming DVD, you will be receiving it today. For those that haven’t registered yet, this more reason to try out the Netflix free trial offer through the Netflix coupon available above.
