Is A New Dollar On The Horizon For The USA in 2010?

by Scott Bradley · 6 comments

18 months ago, people will call you crazy if you even suggested that the US will be issuing new currency. But do you think it’s possible now? Well, at least one person thinks so. Watch (listen) to this conversation and judge for yourself.

What do you think? Do you agree with Bob Chapman’s statement that the fed will issue a new currency because the dollar will be severely devalued?

A Little Background about Bob Chapman

I did a little digging, and here’s a little background info on the person making those claims in the recording.

Bob Chapman made his name in the stock broker space, where he owned his brokerage firm for 18 years. During that time, he was also one of the largest broker of silver and gold.

After he retired, Bob Chapman began writing The International Forecaster, where he owns and is the current editor. His opinions and insights reaches 10,000 investors and brokers directly and indirectly reaches 10 million investors each week through syndication from different publications.

Wow new dollar? Sounds scary…

Then again, why does it matter to people like us as long as the price of milk remains the same?

I think the danger is more on the US losing its dominance as a world’s premier economic power. Without that leverage, we (as American people) would actually need to be much more responsible to enjoy a prosperous lifestyle.

For example, no other country can pull off the combative measures (like those bailouts) without our ability to raise debt, which arguably saved our financial system from catastrophic collapse a little over a year ago.

Sounds scary indeed (like the recent currency devaluations in North Korea and Venezuela). That said, I’ll believe it when I see it. This comes off a bit like doomsayer stuff, but then again, so did the people who predicted the housing/mortgage bubble.

That looks exactly like the Euro. My question is why would reissuing the dollar help stabilize it?

A new dollar?

The way the Democrats are going, we’re more likely to need a trillion dollar bill by the time they lose big in November!

You should check out peter schiff too. He is a stock broker who predicted the .com bust and the recent housing downturn. He is running for the senate in CT but he is an intelligent economist who believes the next crisis is the dollar. His commentary can be found on his company’s website too at europac.net.
