It's all about memorization. You don't have memorize all those in order to save for retirement. If a person is under 50, they don't care what the catch-up limit is. If a person earning $50k is contributing 10% of his/her income, he/she doesn't care whether the annual limit is $10k or $15.5k. People didn't do well on the quiz not because they are not smart.
