Day Gain: $106.28
This was really an interesting day. I have been following GameStop ever since I sold it and I noticed that it would always go back up after it goes down meaning that many people want to buy and support this stock before the major consoles are coming out. I finally bought it after it went down to $53.27 and then the next hour it went down all the way to $52.40. Of course I started to panic and didn’t buy more shares, and after an hour or so, it went back up to $52.04 which is where it ended.
On another note, my portfolio went up almost 1% today at the start of the day, and then slowly but surely it went back to almost no gain. Altria had a bad day even though it had no news. I believe people are starting to get impatient of waiting for the spinoff of kraft and it will really be a test of patience from here on out to hold on to this stock if there is no news as it drains itself from here slowly.
I went down to Best Buy last night and bought 4 DVD players (my girlfriend works at a high tech multimedia company and they have to test their product on the newest and greatest DVD players and HDTVs. So I went down and it was pretty quiet. Weeknights are usually that way though so I’m not too scared about it. I also received a catelog from them today and they came up with this “WOW” idea which is basically a gift idea. It’s pretty neat and I like the way they position themselves in the marketing side. I’m staying on the Best Buy boat for now.
AMD, continue to show some strength even though there were some people taking profits at the end of the day. I believe it still has a lot of run to it left and will run up from here. Good news today that Dell is adding AMD as part of their business offering. I really see this type of thing as a “oh why not” once other companies see that there is really no harm in giving the customer more choices. Having the product out there will only increase market share and I like the AMD/ATI combo since they can eventually sell things at more of a discount which equals “less price cut” on the chip side alone. Keep this baby (it’s been a nice trade already though and I will jump ship anytime!)
Walgreen is the leader in drug stores, and I will stay on this one since it is trading at such a discount. I believe the whole Walmart $4 prescription drug is blown out of proportions but I will watch the government actions towards medicare and drug price very carefully.
Etrade, what can I say….. This is the company that I’m using to trade and I’m very happy with this. I have access to my girlfriend’s TD Ameritrade and it is just not the same. Perhaps it’s the familiarity that I have with Etrade but I just like it so much better. There are companies like TradeKing and others that have lower commissions but I continue to go with E Trade because I’m so happy with their service. I also do not agree with others about the bad customer service experience because my experience has been nothing but top notched. As a matter of fact, the only other company that I have had a better customer service experience is Wellsfargo Credit Card which is superb. Two thumbs up. This has also been a pretty good trade and I plan to go long since there are just good news after good news these days (and the analysis all agree that it will go higher)
This is getting too long, so I will pick some of my other holdings and talk about them later.
If you're looking for a cheap credit card, you might want to consider a payday loan as a better option to help you at the end of the month. It acts as a quick loan and a cash loan which you can use for emergency payments before you get your next pay.
