I am getting married soon too. We originally planned to invite only 100 or so people but the list kept on ballooning as our parents added more and more obscure relatives. I wrote a blog entry on how much we're spending, too, and my fiance objected in the comments and said it's not expensive. See here: http://baglady.dreamhosters.com/2007/07/25/the-frivolity-of-a-modern-wedding/

Thanks. Congrats on your wedding tomorrow too! You must be a true blogger if your wedding is tomorrow and you are blogging/leaving comments on others today! :)

Hopefully your wife won't get mad at you if you do the same thing tomorrow! :)

Congrats on the future wedding. Hope your planning is not in vain. Lizzie and I are getting married tomorrow, but it is the second time each so we really did not want to go overboard (Lol). A wedding on a boat sounds like a smashing idea though.

We have another appointment on Sunday and hopefully we will be able to get more of an idea.

The menu has 2 choices right now and of course it can be cut down too. The other thing is with the tab. Honestly, most people I know do not drink alcohol so we might not have a bar service which will save another $500-$1000.

If that really includes everything than 10,000 wouldn't be that bad. We paid around 8,000 in 99 for about 100 guests at a full sit down dinner (only one menu choice, chicken cordon bleu) with DJ and dancing and 2 hours of bar tab (beer, wine and soda--mixed drinks were pay as you go) plus the champagne. It also included the photoraphy (done by a talented amateur) my dress (Yankee Bill wore his dress uniform from the Army) and the church decorations, gratiuity for priest etc. This was in Upstate NY where things are much more reasonable than a metro area.

Of course, a person can spend much less too.
