Net Worth Update – May 2007 (added $9369.54)

by MoneyNing

This series has been quite a happy series for me to write about and post because of the good performance of the stock market lately.? Below are the results.

As you can see, I was able to add $9369.54 into my net worth.? The main driver was obviously my good fortunes in the stock market.? Percentage wise, my Roth IRA has done the best?since it?jumped up more than 10%.? This is because after I decided that I should use my Roth IRA to do the shortest term trading (to avoid the tax implications), I bought 110 shares of Joy Global (JOYG) which jumped 10% since I have purchased it.? I continue to see it going up so I plan to hold onto it.

In fact, all the major money additions were due to the stock market performance.? I added $1294.23 to my online savings account through saving dilengently, so the rest ($4015.99) was because of the interest of my online savings account?and stock price increases.

The prosper account is hanging in there.? The performance is actually not too bad but since the dollar amount is so small, it doesn’t make too much of a dent anywhere (only approximately a $3 increase)

If you noticed,?it seems like I have a?few thousand dollars of credit card debt.? The reason why it always shows a balance is because I take a snapshot on the last day of the month, but pay my credit cards at the last day of the due date.? This means that although I pay my credit cards off every month, I will always show a balance so nothing to worry about there.

Nice deal. It’s amazing how much money people are racking up these few months.

Good luck with this month though since the stock market is sort of choppy right now.

Thanks! I’m surprised by the performacne these few months also!

Needless to say, if every month was like this last month, many people would not need to work anymore!

Congratulations,

The stock market sure has been quite good these days. I look forward to seeing how all your net worth articles will look during the down market.

Is that “prosper” account at prosper.com? Have you written any blog entries on that? I’m tempted to try it.

Houyhnhnm: Yes I have but it also was just a small update showing everyone what I had in more detail (a whole $200 :) ). In any case, there are many others that have tried it more seriously than I have which could provide a better insight. When I have more time to think things over I will probably increase my “stake” in this form of investing.
