I’ve heard about and seen this many times. There are many people who consistently take Mondays and Fridays off because they are sick. For some reason, the germs only affect these people on Fridays and Mondays. Friday afternoons and Monday mornings are even worst. Strange!
Those who think they can get away with this are just kidding themselves. If this is you, stop now before you lose your job. What might be worst is that no one fires you, but no one gives you any opportunity anymore either. In this scenario, you will be wasting your time at the company and not even know it.
This isn’t even about motivation anymore. This is about showing everyone that you care about your job, and that you are responsible. Skipping work is a selfish motive, but doing so actually does nothing good for you. Selfishly, you actually want to come to work early on Mondays just to give everyone the impression that you work hard even if you aren’t!
Trust me and don’t take too many sick days on Mondays and Fridays. Your boss isn’t dumb.

Mondays are the worst days. Fridays are awesome. Monday I have first day of college for the week. So I go attend it somehow. From next days, I get used to it. Friday is happy time. I will definitely attend it happily…as 2 days of holiday is on the way
I’ve also seen people take sick days consecutively after a vacation. It couldn’t really be more obvious.
It’s amazing how working at home make a difference. No more being lazy or taking sick days if you wish to earn a living.
I disagree with you on this topic. I wrote a reaction post at: http://www.richerbytheday.com/2008/03/taking-full-advantage-of-time-off.html
