Motivation Monday – One Day at a Time

by MoneyNing

Those that are jealous of friends that have today off because of President’s Day can read this post first.  Otherwise, it’s time to not thinking Monday as the start of the week but rather think of now as the start of today!

Much of the reason why we have Monday blues is because we feel like Friday is so far away.  We think of having to work for 5 straight days until we can rest again even though it is simply not true!  Whether it’s at 5:00pm or 9:00pm, we always get a chance to leave the work place and rest every single day.  By thinking about one day at a time, we don’t allow ourselves to feel discouraged because there are still so many days before we get a break.

While we are thinking of one day at a time, we are also breaking up our time into smaller chunks.  This promotes us to get things done because the more precise we are with our use of time, the more we will find that we can fit more things into our schedule and the more things we eventually can get done.  So instead of saying that you can get it done by Wednesday of this week, you should say that it can be done by 10:00am on Wednesday, giving yourself more time after 10 to do something else.  As a side benefit, your boss will definitely be impressed by how precise your deadlines are (just be sure to deliver on your promises)!

So try it.  Stop thinking about Friday today and just concentrate on getting everything done for today and getting out of here!  Let me know the results!

Another major part of Monday blues (for me anyway) is that I’m pimping myself out at a job I don’t like to pay off my debt. That really makes Friday seem far away. Monday blues wouold disappear if I weren’t in stupid credit card debt, or if I actually enjoyed my job. Having one day at a time thinking is not helping me in this case.
