One of my needs is to not be in the position of too many of my fellow baby boomers, unable to retire until their 70's or later, and minimally able to support themselves after that. I have NO need for a fancy life and all the latest electronics crap or a new car. It gives me a great feeling to tweak up the amount we put into retirement and the extra we pay towards our mortgage every couple of months as we can.

My other need is to do what little I can do to not leave behind a world that is in unimaginable chaos once my grandchildren are my age. To that end we live frugally, eat locally and naturally, and do everything we can to not waste the world's resources so that there may be some left for them.
