I just got a haircut today, and this is another one of those things where you can either spend or save a fortune throughout your life.
Several years ago, I go to a salon that cost $50 dollars which I go to every four weeks (they actually recommended me going every three weeks since they claim that guys??hair needs to be maintained more frequently).
These days, I spend anywhere from $5 – $17 dollars depending on where I go and I go every 6 weeks. ?Say I spend $11 on average that means I spent roughly $95 dollars on haircuts every year compared with $650 before, a difference of $555.
Without going into the details, that is a couple hundred thousand dollars if I have all that money invested and allowed to grow after many years.
After writing and realizing this, I feel better already!

I spend $5! Ha!
Okay seriously, I found that I can get a better haircut on average with $20 than with $5, but I probably don’t want to spend $50 for one!
Good job toning your expenses down.
Here’s an even better idea: buy an electric hair trimmers from Wal-Mart for the price of a few haircuts, and get the wife/friend to help you cut your own hair. It’s not hard to do, saves time (I can cut my own hair in the time it takes me to drive to and from the barber, and on my terms!), and pays for itself in a few months.
Works especially well with kids’ hair.
Ahh, good. I thought the tip was going to be that you were cutting your hair yourself with one of those “as seen on TV” gadgets.
Glad to hear you’ve just started going to more inexpensive places
