Is Coke What I Really Want

Today is a very hot day. It is so hot that we were wondering if we can “take off” parts of our skin. 20 minutes ago, I really had this urge of drinking coke. I thought to myself that it would taste great, it would be ice cold, and it would make my day just so much better! I rushed to the kitchen, opened the fridge and that’s when it dawned on me that we had 3 cans of coke left from buying a case of soda a year ago. If I finished those 3, I’m not sure if we will go out and buy any unless they were on sale again.
The thought pondered my mind a little more, and I realized that it is not necessarily Coca-Cola that I wanted, but rather something cold. I looked around, and realized that I would have been just as happy with ….

A great cup of ice water!
Have a great rest of the weekend!

But, sometimes you really do want Coke.
I try not to drink as many soft drinks as what I used to. I try to drink more water or iced tea.
There are two benefits to that. For one thing, water and tea are healthier and less fattening. For the other, an ice-cold Coca-Cola is much more satisfying when you haven’t had one in a while.
dcr: That’s true but many times people respond to their immediate reaction to “want” instead of figuring out another better alternative to filling their desire.
I am happy to hear that you are doing something that’s “healthier” for you. I wonder whether or not you can get rid of wanting a coke if you don’t have it long enough since your body might reject something they aren’t used to.
