Yesterday, I went on an one day business trip to Phoenix, which I totally forgot until the very last minute when I spoke with my customer. Being just an average guy, I went through the usual few modes (denial, frustration, panic, acceptance) after the conversation before rushing to the airport. On my way there, I called US Airways and was put on hold for 20 minutes. Finally getting to a live person, I tried to re-schedule my flight which went something like this.
“I?? sorry sir, but there will be a re-booking charge of $100 + the difference of the ticket.” I was a little impatient after the 20 minute wait over the phone so I said ??kay okay, please let me what the difference will be to go on a later flight since I won?? make my departure time.?? After getting all the booking fees etc etc, she amazingly told me that it will cost $310.48 to go on a later flight. This is crazy because my ticket was only $201.80 to begin with. I quickly asked if I could do this over the counter in the airport which she said was okay.
So I got to the airport, and ran to the ticket counter and told her that I seriously forgot about my trip and looks like I will miss my flight. The lady just told me ??o worries, I will re-book you on the next flight?? So just like that, mission accomplished for free.
I asked her if she can re-book me on the return flight too because I might not have enough time for my one day trip, and she told me that there will be a $100 re-booking fee for the change. I was a little puzzled at this point since she just did this for me for free so she explained to me the difference which prompted this tip:
“There will be a rebooking charge if you ask them to change the flight. However, if you were to miss the flight for some reason, they will just rebook you on the next available flight??br />
Thank you very much, another money saving tip learned for future use. Of course airline policies changes often and US Airways??policy might not be the same as other airlines??but remember not to try to re-book your schedule right away, and let the ticket counter help you out!

Nice! You always find good ways to save yourself (and give others ideas) of saving money.
Great money saving tip! I don’t travel that often but it is nice to see that this is possible.
Interesting, although I wouldn’t really call it a tip. Glad that it worked out for you.

Heh thanks for the criticism but it will probably save people money if they were in the same situation.
