Being friendly makes you rich

I’m still at the golfing trip I told you about, so I’m not sure when I will be able to post this entry. However, I’m having a great time here since the scenery is nice and best of all, it is free (98% of the expenses paid by the boss)!

Something I do want to share with you is the fact that being friendly can really make you rich.? One of the guys in our group (Joe) plays at the course regularly since he lives around here. (For those of you that are wondering what he does, he owns a company that catches the clams and oysters) He is very friendly with the people at the course and he was able to meet many of the people there and become friends with the staff. So this year, he was able to get us $45 rounds instead of $105. Now, there are 12 of us, and we are playing 1 round on Thursday, 2 on Friday, another 2 on Saturday and 1 of Sunday for a total of 6 rounds per person. This means that we saved 6 (rounds) x 12 (people) x 40 (dollar per round) = $2880!

Our family used to go to this place for lunch because they regularly give us a 10% discount; I get to buy name brand suits and men wear for 50% off regular price because my uncle works at an outlet for a high end suits company; the list goes on and on.? Actually, the one I always wanted was having a way to get the car I wanted at a major discount since employees of car companies get amazing price reductions (contact me if you have any leads!)

I?? sure that many other people enjoy different discounts because of their relationship with someone they know, and this is actually a very good money saving idea. I mean, if we can get discounts of some of the necessities, this is as good as money in the pocket!

I?? sure many savers are the quiet, low key type of people (myself included).? But remember to try to be friendly at all times because it could be worth it financial. You probably won’t get discounts every time you are friendly, but at least you are making others around you happier, which is always a good thing.

So starting today, be happy, and be friendly. Cheers.

Great entry. Last year I was on a trip and stayed at starwood hotels in greece for $60 a night when it regularly costs $500+ a night!

Interesting posts. I never thought about it that way.

Richard,

Wow the hotel thing seems to be a very good way to save money! The closest thing I have is all my Marriot points I get since I travel so much, but redeeming any hotels will take a good amount points, so it is something like 1 night for 6 months of travel.

At least it’s better than nothing so I shouldn’t complain!
