Ever since I lost my GPS a few months ago, I bought another 5 GPS devices for myself! Although I didn’t lose any one of them, I kept buying another one for the same reason! This is the story of my GPS device purchasing mania.
Purchase #1
I went to Costco 6 months ago to look for a replacement GPS unit. I found the Magellan Maestro 4040 selling for $399.99 but I wasn’t sure if I wanted this since it wasn’t the cheapest unit around town. A Costco employee came by and explained to me I should just purchase it because they have a 90 day no questions asked money back guarantee. After contemplating for exactly 25 seconds, I decided to get it. When I got home, I started regretting. I knew that I just bought this on impulse, without research and without really thinking about it. I should refund it and I did.
Purchase #2
A few weeks went by and I realized that I needed to do much more preparation on my business trips without a GPS device so I spent some time researching online and found that the Maestro 4040 was actually a pretty good buy. I felt a little inefficient but I went back to Costco to buy the unit.
Purchase #3
Another couple weeks pass by and Costco was selling the GPS unit for $349.99! Hmm. No problem because they have a price match program, especially since it was at their own store! I got home, packed my GPS device, went back, refunded the unit and went on to purchase a new one.
Purchase #4
A few weeks after that, Costco had the same exact Magellan device for $299.99! Repeat process!
Purchase #5
Can you believe there’s another one? It was on sale during Thanksgiving for $249.99!
Conclusion
This is great! I love this country.

Man, that sounds awesome. Were the products you returned in condition to be re-sold as new? I sometimes see some products at Wal-Mart with orange tags that have been opened for a lower price.
Youngandtired: In general, I am extremely good at keeping the units that I use like new. On top of that it wasn’t used for that long at all. I don’t think it will be sold new just like the condition that it was returned in though because they have many bags inside the box for every accessory and they aren’t resealable without a machine.
great post.
You certainly giving a new meaning to consumer.
I LOOVEEEE Costco’s return policies

That’s definitely a deal. It should have saved them a lot of time though if they just put it on sale for a long time.
