Illinois Governor Arrested for Trying to Sell a Senator Seat

by MoneyNing

First, Illinois stops doing business with Bank of America, then the governor tried to withhold money to help the Chicago Tribune unless the media company fires certain editors that are known to be critical of the government. Now, Illinois’ governor Rod Blagojevich is arrested!

Geez. On top of all that, the governor is arrested for trying to “monetize” Obama’s now vacant senator seat. A statement by U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald and FBI Special Agent-in-Charge Robert Grant said it best:

Blagojevich put a for sale sign on the naming of a United States Senator; involved himself personally in pay-to-play schemes with the urgency of a salesman meeting his annual sales target; and corruptly used his office in an effort to trample editorial voices of criticism

Just take a look at the “controversies” section of his wikipedia page. It isn’t exactly short. :)
