Unfortunately, I do know individuals that are purchasing homes for the tax credit...are you kidding me? Irrational thinking! I remember when there was a $10,000 tax credit for new construction in California, the builders were advertising them for $900,000 homes. Is anyone really persuaded into making a $500,000 purchase because they are going to save 6k? The only place I can see this actually working like it's intended to is with properties under $100,000. For the most part though it seems to me like the tax credit ends up going to people who were going to buy a house regardless. I have to agree with Sandra on this one.. It's such a waste. Last time I checked, people should get permission BEFORE they use MY money. It's frustrating.
