I've often found that certain things create 'flow' that aren't really connected to the task at hand. Certainly time of day is one of those.. for me, it's also silly things like the pen I'm using --- I don't know, I'm somehow better able to create and concentrate with certain pens. But you're right - there's no point in trying to concentrate on Finances if you're not in the mood.
