Do you work better at night or during the day? Does it even matter? For me, it doesn’t really matter as long as it’s nice and quiet because there are no distractions. Since I work at home, day time seems to work best for me but I can work well late at night too.
Why I am Asking
For those that know when they are most comfortable with concentrating, use that time to work on your finances! It could be entering data on your budget, it could be reading the most awesome financial blog (I’m talking about that one named Personal Finance Blog by MoneyNing), or it could even be talking to your family about your finances. Whatever it is, find a time that works and stick to the schedule. I bet your finances will be better in no time.

Thats a really interesting thought. I’ve often found that certain things create ‘flow’ that aren’t really connected to the task at hand. Certainly time of day is one of those.. for me, it’s also silly things like the pen I’m using — I don’t know, I’m somehow better able to create and concentrate with certain pens. But you’re right – there’s no point in trying to concentrate on Finances if you’re not in the mood. Sometimes I try to save up some mechanical tasks for times like these … like checking your interest rates against other sources:

I tend to work better in the morning like most people. You have more energy, you have a checklist of things you would like to accomplish. As it gets later in the day, I get tired, hungry, bored, and looking forward to getting home.
I tend to work both day and night because a lot of great programmers or great contacts are usually in different timezones…
