I think the most important thing to consider when buying or switching hosts is their customer service. Give them a call and make note of their response time as this can be a sign of things to come. Don't always go with the cheapest host just to save a few bucks, it could hurt your business or website in the long run.

Baz:

I just switched to HostMonster as you know so I can't really vote much about reliably. The only thing I can say so far is that it hasn't been down yet :)

Technical support was not top notched but is decent (this is based on only two calls though since the first call was great and the second call was "okay"). However, you don't really need to call them since everything can be done with their control panel. You can check out the speed by visiting but compared to my old hosting it is just like comparing a car to a bicycle.

Hosting is about $6 a month so it's similarly priced than others (I have seen $5 a month ones but I'm not going to use $1 to ask my readers to try things out with me).

Good luck with your search but you probably want to see how far along you get in the coming months before you decide whether you want to swtich hosting or not since you might find that 1and1.com meets all your needs already.

I was looking for something cheap, so I ended up at 1and1.com. But, as with everything else in life, you get what you pay for.

Right now I only have 3 WP blogs running. They are small sites and don't need much space or transfer space. What would be important to me is speed and reliablity.

1and1 is somewhat reliable. I had an issue about a month ago with some <a>"database back up issues</a>. But that was my own fault for not doing my own backups.

How did you find hostmonster? I get soooo confused over hosts. You read reviews and you can't really make up your mind because everyone has different experiences.

I am looking for something a lil' bit faster, but until my sites start making enough to feed their own mouths I guess I'll have to wait.
