get a deck of cards that teaches you about personal finance

The purpose of Personal Finance is to give you the knowledge you need to make strong, smart financial decisions and to take control of your financial future.

Strong statement, but I didn’t write that! I actually got it from a deck of cards that Nuru Cards was nice enough to send me. Its idea was simple: to create a deck of plastic cards about personal finance that fits in our pockets, so we can take it out and study anytime we want.

The idea was fresh and one that interests me. Like many other people, there are times when I’m outside and wish I had something to do at that moment (example: waiting for my seat in a restaurant). In the past, I would just sit there and keep thinking about how bored I was, or walk around the plaza or mall and window shop. Now with the help of these cards, I can get a refresher on personal finance topics!

What It Covers
The deck is organized into 7 main categories on 28 cards:

  1. Essential Vocabulary
  2. Personal Planning
  3. Investing
  4. Loans
  5. Retirement Vehicles
  6. Credit
  7. Insurance

What I Think
A quick look at the website reveals that the deck of cards are priced at $10 (this includes shipping). While one would argue that at that price, we can actually get a whole book’s worth of financial information, I still wouldn’t hestitate to recommend these cards because:

  1. A book usually has too much fluff, the cards are to the point.
  2. The cards fit in my pocket and I can read it during those few minute breaks where I have nothing else to do.
  3. I won’t cannot bring the book everywhere because of its size.
  4. Gaining the financial knowledge talked about in the book will for sure save me more than $10.

Do This Before You Get the Book

So why shouldn’t you get the book right away?  Because you might be able to get them free right here!  That’s right, I’m giving away 5 of these decks of cards to the lucky winner.

With this giveaway, entry methods are simple.

  1. Leave a reply stating that you will take this with you and read it (1 entry)
  2. All Email Subscribers Are Always Included in Every Giveaway (2 entries)
  3. Become My Follower and Tweet About it Through Twitter with a Link and Let Me Know (2 entries)

The winners will be announced on November 23rd.  Good luck!
