holiday present

My boss is really generous around Christmas as he would give us 3 different Christmas gifts. I want to use this post as a thank you to his generosity!

  1. He would treat all his employees and one family member one night of free accommodation the night of our annual Christmas party. Usually how it works is that we would all drive to a hotel or resort (1-2 hour from our office) one Saturday in December and have a Christmas dinner/party. After the celebration, we could just go to our hotel room which makes everyone participating more free to drink alcohol. This makes the party much more fun because everyone is more relaxed as no one needs to worry about driving late at night.
  2. For the week between Christmas and New Year’s, employees at my company are allowed to take a week of non-paid vacation even if they do not have enough vacation days. This is a no questions asked typed of vacation so we can take off as we need/want.
  3. Every year, my boss gives each employee a $100 gift certificate from a department store. It used to be Robinson’s May gift cards but it changed to Macy’s gift cards last year after Robinson’s May was acquired. One of my colleague actually tried to get my boss to change it to Nordstorm gift cards because it sells higher end products but my boss said it’s not good to change it as people have been saving the gift cards to buy larger items. At first I thought he was making an excuse but we found out afterwards that someone from the office actually have more than $1000 worth of gift cards saved up!

So a Big Thank You!

How about you? Does your workplace do anything for Christmas? If you get $100 gift cards each year, how will you save/spend/invest it?

My boss a gift? Well, no, even tho I don’t work now, my ex boss used to take us (3-4 of us) to night clubs every weekend and get us all drunk to death and we would always endup sleeping at his place and next morning eating pancakes made from his wife :P but than at work, he would torture us (thats an evil boss)

It’s hard to find these type of people around these days. I guess it’s really the season to be giving :)

When you have a blog or website that generates income for you, you won’t be bothered about bosses giving for seasons. You get to give yourself. On my blog, I’m thinking of giving away something valuable to bloggers and website owners. So if you are interested visit my blog and tell me what you think it should be. Merry Christmas!

Learn SEO: Wow that is torture. Do you guys actually have fun when you guys go to clubs though? I wouldn’t feel too comfortable playing with my boss.

ben: Well, I guess you get some and lose some. I’m sure you have better benefits than my company :(

Mike: Yup I think so. I think part of the reason is that he used to do that when the company was much smaller. Now he might be stuck with it!

Felix: Well, I wish this blog generates so much income that I don’t care about money anymore :) Every penny counts! I really appreciate the $100 gift card :D

It sounds like a nice private company! Our company only has a Xmas lunch this year at a seafood buffet restaurant and not allow employees to take whole week vacation since we are attending CES in early Jan. (I really don’t get it why it could be a reason??????). Anyways, happy holidays to every Moneyning members!!
