Bank Lets You Deposit Checks Right on the iPhone

I’m so excited about the possibilities that I had to share it with everyone. New York Times reports that USAA, a privately held bank and insurance company that primary serves military personnel, is planning to offer an iPhone application to let users check deposit capabilities right on the phone.

No more going to the branch, no more lining up, and no more driving just because you need to deposit a paper check. How cool is that?

Personally, the only reason why I ever need to go to a bank nowadays is to deposit checks. While gas and effort is minimal, it’s still an annoyance that I currently have to deal with. If this feature catches on and major banks start rolling this out to all types of phones, it will be a big incentive for me to pay for the smart phones just to take advantage of the convenience.

Before you know it, iPhone apps will somehow replace credit cards and ATM cards too so we don’t have to carry so many :)

Cool find!

Smart phones are only going to get more complicated. You will be able to do more in the future.

USAA is an AWESOME bank & insurance company…I don’t have an iPhone, but I haven’t been to a bank in years! USAA has Deposit@home – I can scan my checks in and they are deposited. I love it! And not only do they not charge you for ATM fees, they reimburse other banks fees! Their customer service is Top Notch!
