Let me start by sharing my experience with T.J. Maxx.
To be honest, I haven’t set foot into this retailer before I met my wife, as I always thought that it’s more a “for women” type of store. Luckily, Emma shared her love for them after we started dating and introduced me to this wonderful place. Nowadays, we almost shop there exclusively because they have awesome name brand clothing for sale on the cheap. What used to cost sticker price is often sold at 70% off. Sure, it’s not the absolutely latest fashion, but for someone like me who buys polo shirts, there is absolutely no difference.
The place also has sells home goods, which we check out from time to time. It was funny because they had some high end coffee for sale one time at $9.99 and it tasted the same as ones my friend bought from an premium coffee house (not even my friend could tell the difference). I have no idea how much he paid for them but since he had to special order them and have the store ship them from overseas, I bet it wasn’t cheap.
There are many more stories (hence why Emma loves them) but let me give you a chance to share yours.
Good luck on winning some free gift cards and books!
I recently stopped by there for the first time in a long while and was amazed at how cheap the brand name stuff is. I plan on doing all my shopping there from now on.
How timely is this piece! Last Friday I picked up a lay-a-way at TJMaxx. I started my Christmas shopping early. I picked up 3 K’nex toys for my son which would have run me about $45 elsewhere but was about $25 there. I knew the bargain when I saw it. One of the things I love about their lay-a-way program is that you select your items but upon pick up, can remove any items on final purchase that will deduct before the final payment. I ended up removing 3 impulse buys and actually got cash back because I left a big deposit! My only dilemma is that it’s hit or miss sometimes but when they have a clearance it’s insane what you could pay.
I shop at TJ Maxx occasionally and like the value you can get for your money. The prices are pretty decents for good quality clothes.
If you want to look for a bargain TJ Maxx is a great place to go. But prepared to look through a lot of stuff that may be disorganized (depends on location). You have to be patient to find that diamond in the rough. They do have a big selection with lots of name brands though so they are definitely worth checking out.
I mostly use TJ Maxx for clothing. I get my work clothes there a lot, as dress shirts and pants are quite affordable.
it is more consistent than others such as Marshalls in my experience.
It’s funny you mention T.J. Maxx because I love their bargains. Thanks for the chance to win the gift cards!
T.J. Maxx is where I shop for pretty much everything. Once I found a pair of pants for $5.99 when it was originally sold for $89.99!
T.J. Maxx is so good that sometimes I wished they sold everything. It’s like the Costco that doesn’t need membership fees!!
When preparing for a beach trip earlier this summer ALL my frugal/smart friends mentioned TJMaxx as the ONLY place I needed to go for a swimsuit. They were right! Large selection and nicely priced. I got a lovely tankini for $24.99 that had been $80.
I love TJ Maxx, nice items at great prices. And some very good deals on household items. I go there about once a month, and am starting my Christmas shopping there. I have never had problems with returns, just an additional comment.
Gimme gimme gimme! Like you, my wife loves T.J. Maxx because of the savings!
I recently found a Calvin Klein business dress for $15 at TJ’s (yes, normally $255!) Funny you should blog about this because I have thought about blogging on my personal website about my (sometimes) weekly finds at TJ’s. Where I live there aren’t many stores where I can find nice business clothes, especially that are affordable. TJ’s is my favorite place to shop, without a doubt. Thanks for this offer!
I don’t have a TJ Maxx store in my town
I have been to one when visiting my Mother – and was very impressed with the prices! This gift card would be a fun gift to share with her.
Thanks – love your blog!
I love TJ Maxx, and buy most of my basic clothes there. I’ve also bought several pieces for my house at their Homegoods locations. Would love this gift card. I am also a RSS subscriber.

We have TJ Maxx’s in my town and I really need to go check them out. I always head to the closest “outlet” type store which in this case is Ross Dress For Less so I think I need to venture into some new territory whether I win the GC or not TJ;s is on my list next trip.
+1 for experiences w/ TJ Maxx
+4 for getting RSS feed and email subscriptions both
I love the T.J. Maxx home goods section. Wine glasses are much cheaper, and I even bought a desk there that was half off. It certainly gives us a glimpse of the markup that traditional retailers charge!
My mom would love the gift card!
I can’t believe there are so many people that have similar experiences as me. I love T.J. Maxx and will continue to shop there as long as they give out great deals!
I only get to shop at T.J. Maxx when I visit my sister in California, but the pair of us have lots of fun finding bargains whenever we go together. If any representative is listening, I hope that they plan to expand everywhere nationwide!
TJ Maxx also has very good deals on high end pots. Like Costco they don’t necessarily always have a particular brand or item. The trick is to be able to go in once a week to check out the new arrivals -my sister does this. My mom noticed that often the comparable retail price on the TJ Maxx tag is often lower than you’d actually find at a department store. So the savings is greater than you’d think.
I recently visited a TJ Maxx here in Southern New Jersey. Generally, I’ve found that the prices are good but you must return fairly frequently to find something specific. Overall, I’ve enjoyed my experience there.
The experiences are great! Keep them coming!
T.J. Maxx offers the same brands at discounted prices. What’s not to like there? I hope I win and thanks for hosting the giveaway!
I actually want the books, but I wouldn’t mind the T.J. Maxx gift cards as well to give to my wife. She shops there and by the number of times that she frequents that place which is too many in my opinion, it must be quite good.
TJMaxx is perfect for buying luggage, perfumes, and shoes. I’m always amazed at the perfumes for sale there. They have good clothes, too, if you learn to sort through the racks like a pro. They’re definitely my number 1 stop for luggage, though.
My local T.J. Maxx/HomeGoods is awesome and I make it a point to stop by often. It has often been my experience that the “compare to” price is actually higher than listed…confirmed by the original higher price tag! My favorite recent deal: a Vera Wang china platter for $20 that’s listed on Amazon for $200. I love going and just wandering around for things I have my eye out on and it often pays off. Just don’t go on planning on finding exactly what you’re looking for.
TJ Maxx is the best when you’re on a budget. Similar clothes will sell for 60% more at department stores. You’ll have to check back often, sometimes you’ll be able to find electronics like Ipods as well!
I love shopping at TJ Maxx. I was able to get all the fun household items I needed for under $200 total.
My experience with them is nil….because there are NONE anywhere near here… so maybe they should bring one to the Oregon Coast??? Sounds like we need one!
Subscriber, as you know
I love T.J Maxx! Not only can you find brand name clothing for cheap, but it’s also a great place for housewares. I purchased a lot of my dishes and cooking ware at T.J. Maxx.

I first discovered TJ Maxx when I was in college. For some reason before then, I never though much to enter into the store. My friend is really frugal and was the one who brought me there. I like TJ Maxx compared to other similar discount clothing retailers because the store is set up more organized, or at least the ones I have visited applies. I like how everything is at least 50% below the retailer’s markup. It may take a little longer to sift through all the clothing but the savings are well worth the time!
