transformersTransformers were part of my life growing up as Google was to some of you. When the movie about those beloved robots came out 2 months ago, I was really excited. However, since I hold a doctorate degree in procrastination, I put it off until last week. Thrilled as I was that day, we got to the movie theater and found out that the place no longer show the movie. Disappointed, I thought to myself that this time, procrastinating cost me the chance to see Transformers at the movie theater. Most of the time however, it costs me money. By writing out the alternatives to watching Transformers, I should be able to find similarities to help me financially so here goes.1. Don’t Give Up If Our First Choice Does Not Give Us the Desired Result
Actually, I believe there are some movie theaters that are still showing Transformers. Some of the bigger movie complexes show many movies at once and will still show older movies. My job is to find them and go immediately before no movie theatres show the film anymore.

How many times have you miss the chance to buy something that is on sale and gave up because they were out of stock? There are many stores that might still have these! Usually, we can call the other stores ourselves, or ask the sales associate to call nearby stores and ask for us. The key is to act immediately.

Another alternative is to take the coupon / ad and go to a competitor that does price match and ask them to do so! The competitor needs to verify that it is indeed on sale and an ad from a major newspaper is sufficient.

2. Look For Other Ways to Fulfill the Same Need
There are movie theatres that only show old productions and I can always wait until those places have Transformers on. I’m not getting the best experience, but I trade that off by saving some money because those places are cheaper.

When I buy a stock, I would often fail to pull the trigger because I was scared. Many times than not, I would see it run up big and feel like I’ve missed the chance. However, I never thought to myself that there are many other stocks in the same sector that haven’t run up. In the future, I shouldn’t be hitting the refresh button on the stock chart and feel pissed. I should rather look elsewhere to see if my intuition that let me to the stock that I missed the chance with could apply with another stock.

3. Being Patient is Always Worth Money
The third alternative is wait a few months and rent / buy the DVD! With DVD kiosks that allow us to rent a movie for $1, it is perhaps the cheapest solution. This alternative really requires patience, which is something I always need to work on!

When I see a stock that ran up, I can always wait for it to pull back a little instead of chasing the high. Stocks go up and down every day, and even the best stocks aren’t immune to this. Therefore, patience is awarded most of the time, especially in a volatile market like the one we have in the United States right now.

I was upset at the fact that we are unable to watch this movie, but it is actually not the case since I came up with three alternatives rather quickly. It is important for us to not get upset or panic when something does not come our way.

Remember that we are smart (I must say that reading Money Ning makes you even smarter), so we can always think of a solution. :)

Don’t panic!
