I?? writing this entry from a us airways plane ride. Since I?? stuck for another hour or so, I figured why not write something to share with you readers?
I noticed that US Airways is really aggressively trying to profit from different areas. They are asking the passengers to pay $5 for a snack pack, and $3 for headphones. Furthermore, they are actively promoting their airline credit card, and select flights even have a big ad on every seat?? tray table.
I must say that they are probably able to increase their profit by a big margin. The down side might be offending passengers, but US Airways flights are actually almost always full, so no problems there.
All this must be a direction of the company to generate profits and this got me thinking ??oes this relate to us as individuals trying to achieve financial freedom at all???br />
The answer is yes.
We always want to save money, but how many of you are always thinking about how we can do this more effectively? Some of you are already doing something that helps tremendously, which is reading these financial blogs. If anything, blogs like this one reminds you of the importance of saving, and keeps this topic in your conscious mind. By always thinking of different ways, you will be able to come up with creative ways of doing so.
Just like the story Philip shared with us (click here for it), he was able to figure out a way to see how much he can save by not taking the cab. This in turn motivated him to save that money, allowing him just that much closer to his dream retirement.
Just realize that the goal is to save more money. If you are not as efficient as your friend in saving your income, you will just have to increase your income to compensate if you want to save the same amount. This is just basic mathematics. For most of us, thinking about saving money is much easier since this is something we can control. Remember that it?? not what you earn but what you are able to save that matters in the future.
Good luck.
